Kelley Temple, the National Union of Students’ women’s officer, agrees. “A difference in life experience makes a difference in voting,” she says. “The fact that women have different experiences is going to contribute to what they think is important and what isn’t. You look at issues like childcare and maternity leave, which women had to pick up because of the expectation they’re care givers; that’s something they’re going to think of as a priority because they have the experience of living that.”
