It was on October 14, 2011 that a group of scientist from the American Space Agency NASA identified the first crack in the glacier tongue. The then emerging crack was some 24 kilometers long and 50 meters wide.혻 The second crack was noticed on May 11, 2012. It produced a 30 square kilometer 혻iceberg that was enclosed by another bigger iceberg.
