Baseball officials refused to make the deal and instead hit Rodriguez on Aug. 5 with an unprecedented 211-game suspension for his dealings with Anthony Bosch and his now-defunct Biogenesis anti-aging clinic. Twelve other players were suspended for 50 games for their roles in the Biogenesis doping scandal, while Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers was suspended for 65 games. The other players have accepted their suspensions: only Rodriguez has appealed.
